Custard apple.
If we shaved our heads, we'd look like a custard apple.
As we get used to our new surroundings, we are accumulating so many bumps and bruises. We've got bumps on our bruises and bruises on our bumps. The companionway is the worst offender.... that gets me at least twice a day. It could be worse, I could be tall, in which case, I'd have bumps on my bumps on my bumps.
If you come and visit us, don't let me hold your baby. Last time I was so busy telling my friend to watch her head, that I managed to bump her baby's head on the companionway. (What a stoic young lad he turned out to be!).
Hopefully we'll get used to our new surroundings sooner rather than later. Otherwise, we'll spoil.

Hi Al, you don't know me from a bar of soap but after reading your blog for the past 30 mins and giggling the whole time I thought I would comment anyway. What a magnificent adventure!! We are taking our kids (2 and 6) to the Whitsundays sailing later this year on what appears to be more like a floating palace (far posher than our house in Ocean Grove) and thought we were being quite intrepid until I read about your travels. I hope you have the bestest time. Cheers Bishi
ReplyDeleteHi Bishi, you DO know me! We spent a chatty Saturday morning together on toy library duty and talked about sailing away.. I am so pleased you're heading seaward with your children. Maybe our courses will cross in the Whitsundays... keep in touch, let us know where you are, maybe we'll be able to meet for sundowners?... Al
ReplyDeleteAl, I'm such a numpty. I have actually thought about you guys often since that chatty morning at toy library but had somehow failed to join the dots btw you and "adrift family robinson". You guys are ACE!! And a quick question .. do you know where you purchased the netting that you have strung up around the safety rail. We cant seem to find some wide enough ... xx Bishi. PS sundowners sound wonderful.
ReplyDeleteNetting is from Whitworth's in Melb (you can order online). Are you chartering a yacht, and putting your own netting on? That's impressive!
ReplyDeleteThanks Al. Yes we are chartering and bringing our own netting. Kinda crazy but we don't want to spend every moment following our two year old around or listening to her howl about spending another hour lashed to the mast. Hoping that turning the boat into a big porta cot will reduce our minute to minute concerns. Cheers Bishi
ReplyDeleteB.O.A.T Band Of Adventurous Travelers .... closely followed by your one .. Break Out Another Thousand
Giant port-a-cot. That is HILARIOUS.
